Research is a defining feature of a UC-quality medical school. It is increasingly understood that health of the environment and human health are inextricably linked. UC Merced has created an interdisciplinary environment that provides unique opportunities to link human health with the health of the environment.
UC Merced is building strong programs in health sciences and environmental sciences, with stellar faculty and research facilities. Integrated research in the natural, social, and engineering sciences to address health of the environment, sustaining natural resources and promoting social well being, particularly in the San Joaquin Valley and Sierra Nevada regions of California, is carried out under auspices of the Sierra Nevada Research Institute.
